Effects of a Stroke
If a stroke occurs in a section of the brain that controls a particular body function, that part of the body quits working. Symptoms, though, depend on the part of the brain affected and the extent of the damage.

Recovery from a stroke can take months or years of medical treatment and rehabilitation. Many stroke survivors never regain all their lost functions, therefore, making stroke a leading cause of serious, long-term disability.
